Jerusalem, center of the world on many ancient maps and still today, considered by many to be the spiritual center of the world because of its deep connections to Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Today, many thousands of people from all four corners of the world come to Jerusalem to visit and many international organizations and institution have a Jerusalem Center in the city:
- The Brigham Young University Jerusalem Center was set up by the Church of Latter Day Saints a few years ago.
- The Jerusalem Center for Biblical Studies has held Christian study courses for more than 400,000 Christians since 1974.
- The Jerusalem Center for Jewish-Christian Relations (JCJCR) is concerned with all aspects of Jewish and Christian relations in Israel today.
- The Jerusalem Center of Design is an innovative design center set up to encourage and assist local designers.
- The Jerusalem Center for Research studies the religious implications for Jews of modern medical developments and practice.
- Located in the city center, the Jerusalem Centre for the Performing Arts is the largest and most active cultural center in the city.
- This is just a sample of the many organizations that have a “Jerusalem Center” but goes to show how important the city is.
